I typed in “ndiswrapper -l” and got a message of “wmp54gs driver present, hardware present”. I do not have access to an ethernet connection on this dell desktop, but I do have a connection on a laptop, and I can download and transfer any files that I need to with that. Instead of using ndiswrapper or ndisinstaller I decided to try ndisgtk since none of the previous attempts were successful and no one had already suggested it.
